Meet Chef Somerled Mackay
Having recently been appointed the position of Head Chef here at The Hackney, Somerled Mackay – better known as Sam, has reconstructed each of our menus by adding his own creative flair. Taking main inspiration from his upbringing in San Pedro Sula, Honduras plus a combination of different food styles including Latin American, Spanish and Modern Australian cuisine, we’ve welcomed some amazing changes at The Hackney.
Sam’s signature dish ‘Paella Valenciana’ is a crowd favourite, quickly topping menu sales with plenty of amazing feedback.
Sam’s passion for finding good flavours and creating new tastes is inspired by friends, family and his two cooking idols Marco Pierre White and Ferran Adria. His drive and determination has contributed to milestone achievements at a young age including earning the position of Executive Sous Chef of an international 5 star hotel by the age of 21.
